Should Boxing Be Banned
Many people have their own opinions to many topics. In the topic of boxing there is a great controversy. Some people believe that boxing should be banned while others believe that boxing should be kept. I feel that boxing is a sport, but it should definitely be banned mostly due to the intense violence that occurs in this sport.
Boxing is a well known sport around the world. In boxing's beginning it was also well known and played among the people of that time. The time that boxing started is known to be around 4000 and 3000 B.C. It is known to have originated from the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome. Boxing at that time was completely different to our modern boxing. First, boxing back then wasn't called boxing, instead it was called pugilism. Also boxers back then didn't have gear such as boxing gloves or head and ear pads and there were no serious rules like today. This made the game even more dangerous and brutal. As time went on things began to change and boxing began to spread but the violence still stayed.
Today, boxing is a sport watched all over the world. The whole concept of this sport is for two competitors to get in a ring and try to give out blows as well as avoid blows from each other. This sport is known for kicking, punching, and knockouts, and this is mainly why I think boxing should be banned. The fact that people watch something that can show so much violence just shows how the world is sometimes senseless. In my opinion, sitting at home watching two people get at each other makes no sense at all and really it just shows how people have nothing better to do. Boxing isn't only pointless for the viewers, it's pointless for the boxers as well. Why should the boxers sacrifice their life doing this? If boxing was banned then we wouldn't have boxers going home with injuries, cuts, and bruises and probably having fractures. Also, people have no clue of how boxing can bring a bad effect on the world today.
Boxing does play a bad impact on the world in many ways. There are many people of all ages who watch boxing and this includes the young children as well. Many little children, especially little boys, love to watch boxing. The bad part is that boxing does play a bad influence on the children. First, some children are watching boxing for the violence and some viewers can't wait to see that one good punch. Boxing just shows some violent and brutal scenes that people especially children shouldn't even be watching. Secondly, kids always want to do what they see on TV so if they see a man punching another man and they think it's cool, then they are going to want to do the same. What kind of lesson is this to the little kids.
In conclusion, I feel boxing should be banned because it's too violent, dangerous, brutal, and insignificant to the world. Many people get hurt through it, and in some cases get serious injuries or even die. Also it's a bad influence to the children and they really shouldn't watch it and if there was no boxing they wouldn't have the need to watch it.
